RETURNS AND EXCHANGES

All sales are final unless your product arrives damaged due to our own errors. Please email us within 7 days of receiving your order if there is an issue, including any photos of damaged boxes or packaging - we need this to make insurance claims with the service provider.

As a supporter of the farm, your satisfaction is important! If you are not happy with your order for any reason, please let us know so we can work it out together and continue to improve our product and services. Your feedback is important!

DRIED HERB AND GENERAL PRODUCT SHIPPING POLICY

We do not offer international shipping.

We strive to ship orders at least once a week. Occasionally, the season or family life dictate delays. We announce planned down time on our store banner at the top of the home page. 

If you provide an incorrect or incomplete address or neglect to receive your package as expected, your package may be returned to us. You are responsible for additional shipping costs to mail it back to you.

We believe in an ethic of re-use. We accept used packing materials from our extended family and community. Expect to see re-used boxes from that ubiquitous online mega-retailer, bubble wrap, packing peanuts, plastic tape, etc. all salvaged and inspected for cleanliness. When purchasing shipping materials we opt for biodegradable and compostable options and use new plastic as sparingly as possible. Dried herbs are usually shipped in paper or compostable cellophane.

 

FRESH HERBS SHIPPING POLICY

Fresh herbs are shipped as they become available and as efficiently as possible on  Tuesdays. We typically list them in the store well in advance of their harvest date to allow an accessible order window. You may be able to order herbs with different shipping windows. We will communicate if this happens and split your order. You are responsible for communicating any times you are not able to receive your fresh order. We will not check-in before we ship. You will receive your shipping information the day your herbs ship. 

Fresh herbs shipped with Express/One-Day shipping are guaranteed to arrive in usable* condition. You can ask for slower service (this is usually great for fall roots!) but we will no longer guarantee their condition - unfortunately, we too often have mishaps with Priority and Two Day shipping that lead to deliveries coming the following Monday or Tuesday. If your order doesn’t show up in usable condition, email us with photos of the packaging and the herbs within 3 days of arrival. 

*What is usable condition? Even when everything aligns, spoilage can happen. You may see up to 20% spoilage or field damage, though it’s usually much lower. Spoilage looks like moldy or mushy herbs. As you inspect your herbs, be prepared to pick out a few damaged pieces, some bugs, maybe some mulch. Expect to see wilting after your herbs travel hundreds of miles - we consider wilted herb usable herb. 

Fresh herbs are eager to spoil! We harvest in the driest conditions possible and do not wash, as introducing water can accelerate spoilage - the exception is roots. We pre-chill all orders before shipping and will use ice packs, paper, or plastic at our discretion based on shipping distance, season, and the variety. Open your package right away and process as soon as possible. If you need to store them we recommend wrapping your herbs in paper or cloth, inside a plastic bag, in the fridge. Our mulch mostly prevents soil from splashing onto the herbs but we recommend you inspect them for any soil or pollen you may want to wash off and dry carefully before using promptly.

Shipping costs will be automatically calculated at checkout AND often this calculation is imperfect.  If we pack your order and find that you were overcharged more than a few dollars for shipping, we will refund you. If you are significantly undercharged, we will email you to confirm your order with the exact shipping costs. We can usually adjust to cheaper shipping services for regional folks. We will adjust for the fastest, cheapest service and extend our guarantee to orders we modify this way.
